As a teaching Linguistic Landscapes in English language classes

by Albert Orozco

Regarding the webinar

This webinar will introduce the idea of Linguistic Landscapes (LL), and a pedagogical framework will be provided to help instructors use LL in English language courses. LL refers to the language surrounding us in public and private settings, like words, pictures, murals, or graffiti. LL has the potential to be valuable pedagogical resources because they are ubiquitous, frequently reflect the sociocultural and linguistic diversity of a community, serve as examples of language-playing symbols and signs, and show how English is used in non-English contexts daily. Given the potential of LL, the main objective of this webinar is to offer helpful advice on how to systematically introduce and execute Linguistic Landscape-centered activities in English language classes.
